Jannik Arbogast (born July 4, 1992 in Bretten ) is a German athlete .

Life

Jannik Arbogast played soccer in his childhood before he found running in 2003. Under coach Alfons Brecht from TSV Neudorf, his running talent quickly showed, so that he graduated with football in 2006 and from then on devoted himself entirely to running. After switching to Wolfgang Hohl's training group in Pforzheim , Jannik Arbogast qualified for the German Youth Athletics Championships for the first time in 2008 . In 2011 he moved from TSV Neudorf to the LG Region Karlsruhe and from then on trained under Günther Scheefer. This was followed by participation in the German Junior Athletics Championships and the nomination for the 2013 European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade ( SRB ), where he was only able to achieve 78th place out of 84 athletes in the U23 age group due to illness. At the 2014 European Cross Country Championships in Samokow ( BGR ), Jannik Arbogast was able to confirm his achievements and finished in 27th place out of 66 athletes in the U23 race.

In March 2015, Jannik Arbogast surprisingly achieved 2nd place over the middle distance at the German Cross Country Championships in Markt Indersdorf . He also won DM silver in May 2015 at the German championships in the 10,000 meter run in Ohrdruf , and at the German championships over 5,000 meters in Nuremberg in July 2015 , he finished 4th. A year later in March, the participation in the student world championships in cross-country running in Cassino ( ITA ) was less successful , where one week after a convincing 4th place at the German cross-country championships (middle distance) in Herten he posted as one of five German athletes could only run in 56th place out of 70 participants. The next national top placings should not be set until 2018 due to long-term injury problems ( ankle edema since 2015 ) and breaks in running. In the meantime, Arbogast preferred to keep fit through regular swimming training.

In February 2018 Jannik Arbogast ran at the German Athletics Indoor Championships in Dortmund over 3000 meters in 7th place, in July 2018 he took 8th place in the German Athletics Championships in Nuremberg in the 5000 meter run, followed by his The greatest success to date, the surprising win of the German championships in the 10 km road race in September 2018 in Bremen despite irregular running training over the summer . There he was only able to break away decisively from a four-man leading group in the last few meters without great expectations in advance. At the 2018 European Cross Country Championships in Tilburg , Jannik Arbogast had to cancel his start at short notice due to an infection.

Jannik Arbogast has three siblings and grew up in Graben-Neudorf . After finishing school at the technical high school in Bruchsal , he studied geography and sport for teaching at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Starting for KIT, he won the German university championships in 10 km road running in Siegburg in September 2017 and the German university championships in cross running integrated into the Cross Pforzheim in November 2017 in Pforzheim . Along with Günther Scheefer and Simon Stützel, Arbogast is one of the co-organizers of the Karlsruhe Long Running Night .
