The men's 100-meter run at the 2012 European Athletics Championships was held on June 27 and 28, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .
In this competition there was a French double victory. European champion was defending champion Christophe Lemaitre . Jimmy Vicaut took second place . Bronze went to the Norwegian Jaysuma Saidy Ndure .
As in 2010 , Irishman Jason Smyth , who had Stargardt's disease , was there again in the 100-meter run . In 2010 he took part in the European Athletics Championships as a disabled athlete for the first time, where he made it through to the semi-finals. Smyth is almost blind from his illness. With a time of 10.47 s he reached the semi-finals again here in Helsinki , where he was eliminated as a barrel sieve with 10.52 s.
