The women's 200-meter run at the 2012 European Athletics Championships was held on June 29 and 30, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .

In this competition, the Ukrainian female sprinters achieved a double victory. European champion was Marija Rjemjen . She won ahead of Chrystyna Stuj . Bronze went to the French defending champion and third place in the 2010 European Championship over 100 meters Myriam Soumaré .

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was carried out in five runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals. Overall, only six of the thirty participants dropped out. In fact, in the first four of the five preliminary runs, one sprinter did not reach the next lap. Two athletes failed in the last run.
