Liga MX 2019/20

The 2019/20 season of the Mexican soccer league MX started on Friday, July 19, 2019 with the match between Puebla FC and Club Tijuana , which the guest from the US border town won 3-1. Because of the global COVID-19 pandemic , which increasingly affected Mexico in March 2020 , games were last held in front of an audience on the ninth day of the Clausura 2020, as the selected example of the Clásico Tapatío on March 7, 2020 shows. The matches on the tenth day of the match then all took place without an audience, as the example of the Clásico Joven , which was also held on March 15, 2020, shows (see web links), before the championship was canceled prematurely.

Moved up and down

At the end of the preseason , the team of Lobos de la BUAP retired due to financial difficulties from the league and was replaced by FC Juarez after the sale of their license . With the departure of the Lobos, the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz escaped relegation, which they overtook after the winter break of the 2019/20 season due to a decision by the league. Because the second division champion of the previous season , Atlético San Luis , also took his place in the first division, the Apertura 2019 was held with 19 teams.
