Chapel of St. Eligius

In 1663 the chapel built at the intersection between Nonnenbach and Hemigkofen had to be rededicated as a result of the Thirty Years War . Around 1710 it was renewed by a donation from Count Anton von Montfort and his wife, before it was given its baroque shape with a hexagonal onion dome in 1748. In 1871 a column roof was added over the entrance door and the lead glazing, the roof and the outer facade with the sundial painted on it in 1780 were renovated in 1992–1995; since then, the Eligius Chapel ( Eligius , ( lat. the chosen one ), is the patron saint of wagons, blacksmiths, metal workers and horses) has had its current appearance. The chapel has served as a memorial for fallen soldiers since the mid-1950s: inside, four steles are dedicated to the victims of the First World War and twelve to those of the Second World War .
Only the baroque high altar has been preserved from the original furnishings .

Lost settlement Tutnau
Archeology of the Middle Ages : Near the Castle Gießen, a little to the south, was the lost settlement Tutnau.

The Tuttenow Chapel was mentioned as early as 1398, in 1405 parts of the settlement, together with other places, were transferred to the Lindau Hospital, in 1478 the hospital nurses bought the missing third; the Georgskapelle, it was incorporated into the parish of Wasserburg , was probably completely disintegrated in 1629, the last visible remains of the settlement disappeared in the middle of the 17th century. Today only the field names Kircheschle testify to the former Tuttnauer Oesch and the Kirch-Oeschle.
Archaeological findings and finds are to be expected in the area of the abandoned settlement; they represent source evidence of the history of the hamlet of Tutnau and its chapel as well as the mills belonging to the castle that existed in this area until the 18th century. Scientific documentation of such documents consists of local history and general scientific (medieval settlement history, rural material culture) reasons a public interest.

A wayside cross erected for prayer on the road from Riedensweiler to Bechtersweiler

A red sandstone plinth with a four-part structure above a rectangular floor plan; the tall rectangular pillar, closed by a capital-like cover plate with a carnies profile, bears the inscription Crucified Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us in life and on the face side . in death! and on the back the inscription Jesus my God I love you above all ; large, cast-iron cross attachment with filigree, neo-Gothic ornamental shapes in measure and foliage as well as a crucifix also made of cast and a Madonna at the foot of the cross.
The preservation of the elaborate wayside cross as a specifically pictorial expression of Catholic popular piety with at the same time a significance that shapes the cultural landscape is of public interest for scientific reasons.

Chapel “St. Joseph and St. Joachim ”with chaplain house

The St. Joseph's Chapel in Tunau , commissioned by Count Hugo von Montfort, is on the way to Kressbronn; it was consecrated in honor of the saints Josef and Joachim on October 17, 1659 (year in the arched portal, above the Montfort coat of arms ) by the Constance bishop Franz Johann Vogt of Altensumerau and Prasberg ; on December 15, 1716, the St. Joseph's Brotherhood was established and the keeping of the Holy of Holies in the church began; on the ceiling of the chapel you can admire a painting depicting the death of St. Joseph; For a long time the chapel and chaplainry belonged to the parish of St. Martin in Langenargen, but in 1957 they came to the Kressbronn parish of St. Maria Hilfe der Christisten; the famous Romanesque lecture cross from the middle of the 12th century is in the Langenargen Museum. In 1974 the chapel was renovated, in addition to the figures of the patron saint and the Mother of God, a figure of Mary and John has since been on display; The former chaplain’s house, a two-storey stone building with a round arch portal and gable roof, was built around fifty meters west of the chapel and was built in 1728.

Former landing bridge
The actual landing bridge has been broken off, some dolphins are still there.

At this point, a wooden ship landing was first documented in 1794; with the approval of steamship traffic , the new, much longer pier was built in 1878; At the end of the 1990s it was the only one of its kind still preserved in the Lake Constance district, but then had to give way to today's landing stage due to the technical requirements.
