Martin Werhand (born May 13, 1968 in Neuwied am Rhein , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a German publisher , editor and writer . In 1997 he founded Martin Werhand Verlag with a focus on contemporary and classic fiction . The headquarters of the publishing house is in Melsbach in Rhineland-Palatinate.

life and work

Martin Peter Werhand was born in 1968 as the son of the Neuwied blacksmith Klaus Rudolf Werhand . After graduating from the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Neuwied in 1988 , Werhand studied German (with Günter Blamberger , among others ), English (with Ansgar Nünning ) and theater, film and television studies (with Renate Möhrmann and Elmar Buck ) from 1992 to 1997 from the University of Cologne . While still studying in 1997, Werhand decided to found an independent literary publisher. As a publisher and editor of the Martin Werhand Verlag , between 1999 and 2002 he was responsible for the works of numerous young authors in the anthology series Junge Lyrik . Starting with the first volume in the series, including the volumes Junge Lyrik II and Junge Lyrik III , numerous readings in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia followed until 2003 . In 2006 he published the poetry anthology The Seasons of Love . In addition to anthologies, Werhand has also published various poetry and prose series since 2014. Martin Werhand lives and works in Melsbach, Rhineland-Palatinate.

Lyric projects

Since 1999, as a publisher, editor and author, Martin Werhand has supported and implemented numerous lyrical projects together with institutions, bookstores and publishers, including in 2003 on World Book Day in Münster , together with Thalia Holding , where he was the editor of the volume alongside six others Poets, including the authors Florian Cieslik , Patric Hemgesberg and Thomas Bruns , also appeared as an author at a reading on April 23. Likewise in 2006, when the Bremer Straßenbahn AG under the direction of Renato Mismetti and Joachim Tuz organized the Poetry Moved project with numerous authors from Martin Werhand Verlag. Martin Werhand was also represented there with a guest contribution as an author. In the years 2018 and 2019, the WDR used volumes from the Martin Werhand Klassiker publishing program 50 timeless poems for a contribution to the program: Lying down - rain ... and lying down - the joie de vivre in poetic and musical form.
