history
The Musée du Désert , which is particularly dedicated to the history of Protestantism in the region, is located in the Mas Soubeyran settlement belonging to the municipality . The denomination was widespread throughout the Cevennes and became a starting point for resistance and underground activities after the Edict of Nantes was withdrawn in 1685 . A désert , which is also the French word for desert, was a suitable place of refuge for such activities in the period that followed. It later became the museum that exists today.
