1973 NBA Draft
The 1973 NBA Draft was carried out on April 24, 1973 in New York . It was the last draft with no limit on the number of rounds, so that the player selection ran until no franchise chose another player. There were 20 rounds in total.
In first position, Doug Collins was elected by the Philadelphia 76ers . Of the total of 211 selected players, 52 played at least one NBA game. Krešimir Ćosić is the only player from this draft to date to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame . However, he never played in the NBA, but opted for a career in Europe. Some players selected in the draft opted for the American Basketball Association (ABA) competitive league and therefore initially did not play in the NBA.
