National Assembly (Cape Verde)
The National Assembly ( pt .: Assembleia Nacional ) is the parliament in the unicameral system of Cape Verde .
72 MPs are elected to the National Assembly of Cape Verde using proportional representation. It is located in the capital Praia .
The parliament was established after Cape Verdean independence from Portugal in 1975.

In the parliamentary elections in Cape Verde 2006 on January 22, 2006, the social democratic party Partido Africano da Independência de Cabo Verde (PAICV) was again a ruling party. In the 2011 parliamentary election , the PAICV repeated its success.
The last elections so far took place in 2016 , in which the PAICV lost its majority to the Movimento para a Democracia (MpD).
