Ringelsdorf-Niederabsdorf ( listen ^{? / I} ) is a market town with 1231 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria .

geography

Ringelsdorf-Niederabsdorf is located in the eastern Weinviertel on the Zaya , a little away from the Marchauen , exactly in the border triangle of Austria , Slovakia and the Czech Republic . The area of ​​the market town covers 32.44 square kilometers, around 16 percent of the area is forested.

Community structure

The municipal area comprises two cadastral communities or towns with the same name (area 2016, population on January 1, 2020):

• Niederabsdorf (969.95 ha, 571 Ew.)
• Ringelsdorf (2.276.59 ha, 660 Ew.)

With the Lower Austria. Municipal structure improvement was merged on January 1st, 1971 Niederabsdorf and Ringelsdorf.

history

Niederabsdorf

• Emperor Heinrich III. In 1045 he gave the area on the Zaya to the Bavarian monastery Niederalteich in order to secure his empire against the Hungarians. Niederabsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1148 under the name "Zaia".
• 1232: First mentioned as "Villa Absdorf" ( village of the abbot of Niederalteich ).
• The Niederabsdorf parish was created around 1234 - it was first mentioned as a property of the Niederalteich monastery. 1406: Liechtenstein bailiffs in Niederabsdorf.
• 1420–1436: Hussite invasions .
• In 1683 Niederabsdorf was attacked by the Turks , who destroyed the church, which was built in 1045.
• During an attack by the Kuruzzen on June 20, 1704, the village was burned down.
• In 1866 the Prussians had Niederabsdorf under control.
• By 1890 the village had 142 houses and 941 inhabitants.
• In 1896 the Niederabsdorf volunteer fire brigade was founded.

Ringelsdorf

• Ringelsdorf was first mentioned in 1200 as "Ringlinsdorf" ( village of Ringili ). In 1359 Ringelsdorf got a parsonage belonging to the Rabensburg rulership, but this was looked after by the parish Drösing.
• 1420–1436: Hussite incursions in Ringelsdorf.
• In 1642 Ringelsdorf got its own parish. As in Niederabsdorf, the Turks also made Ringelsdorf unsafe. The parish and church went up in flames. A total of 90 people died in the attack by the Turks.
• The Cholera Markuskapelle was built in 1851.
• 1866: Prussia in Ringelsdorf.
• In 1890 the local lighting was installed.
• The Ringelsdorf Voluntary Fire Brigade was founded in 1892.
• The kindergarten was opened in 1914.

Ringelsdorf-Niederabsdorf

• In 1986 the municipality was elevated to a market municipality by a resolution of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Population development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1,423 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1,490 inhabitants, in 1981 1,550 and in 1971 1,768 inhabitants.

• The multi-purpose hall is located between Niederabsdorf and Ringelsdorf. In it, among other things, balls are held and amateur plays are performed at irregular intervals .
• The parish library in Niederabsdorf offers a wide range of children's books as well as novels and biographies.
• Contemporary historical exhibits from the home region are on display in the Niederabsdorf local history museum. It is opened for special exhibitions, on request, and on special occasions. The entire museum is currently being renovated. The Niederabsdorf cultural and beautification association takes care of the 120-year-old building. The local history museum consists of nine rooms and a former flight observation bunker from the Second World War .
• Castle pond: An artificial pond created by the Princes of Liechtenstein serves as a fish pond, local recreation area and extinguishing water pond. The natural inflow was interrupted once before in the 1970s, so that the pond dried up. For this reason, an artificial inflow was created to preserve the pond. However, since this no longer corresponds to the current nature conservation conditions, it must be closed. The aim is to find a solution with an approximately 500 meter longer inflow from the Zistersdorfer Bach, which the municipality cannot manage with its own resources.

In 2001 there were 37 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry operations 57 according to the 1999 survey. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at the place of residence was 580. In 2001, the activity rate was 42 percent.

Ringelsdorf-Niederabsdorf is located on the Drösing – Zistersdorf railway line, which is only used for freight traffic .

• Both villages each have tennis clubs. There is a sports club in Niederabsdorf.
