The International Lower Saxony Tour (LOTTO Tour) is a multi-day cycle race that has been held annually in April since 1977 .

The stage race is organized by the International Lower Saxony Tour Association , which tries to touch as many regions of Lower Saxony as possible during the cycle race by selecting the start and destination locations . The tour was also organized under the name ODDSET tour in the early 2000s.

The Elite Tour of Lower Saxony was part of the German Championship (TUI Cup) and was most recently in category 2.1 in the UCI calendar . classified. Until the abolition of the division of cycling into professionals and amateurs in 1995 ( standard license ), the Lower Saxony tour was considered one of the most important amateur cycling races in the world. In the 1980s , the race was largely dominated by drivers from the GDR , who were otherwise only allowed to shine in the Peace Drive. In 2006, Alessandro Petacchi from Team Milram set a new record: The Italian professional cyclist was the first to win all individual stages and the overall standings.

The doping scandal, which has been simmering for some time, has led to the withdrawal of numerous sponsors, including Volkswagen , from the Lower Saxony Tour, so that the 2008 race had to be canceled. The tour was continued as a junior race.
