The 1988/89 OHL season was the 9th season of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The Kitchener Rangers won the Hamilton Spectator Trophy as the best points team of the regular season . In the subsequent playoff final, the Peterborough Petes prevailed against the Niagara Falls Thunder and thus secured their sixth J. Ross Robertson Cup .

Changes

The Hamilton Steelhawks moved to Niagara Falls and traded there as Niagara Falls Thunder . In addition, the Kingston Canadians were renamed Kingston Raiders .
