Pakistan took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, with a delegation of 55 male athletes in 43 competitions in eight sports.

It was Pakistan's third participation in the Summer Olympics since 1948 .

The youngest athlete was the racing cyclist Saleem Farooqi at 16 years and 121 days , and the oldest athlete was Zafar Ahmed Muhammad (43 years and 149 days).

Flag bearer

Hockey player Abdul Hamid carried the flag of Pakistan during the opening ceremony in Melbourne's Olympic Stadium .
