The United States Open , US Open for short , is an annual squash tournament for men and women. It takes place at Drexel University in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania and is part of the men's PSA World Series and the women's WSA World Series .
The men's tournament was originally launched in 1954, initially in the American version of the sport of squash, hardball squash . The tournament has only been played in the international squash variant since 1985 and currently belongs to the World Series Gold category , the third highest valuation category . The total prize money is therefore 115,000 US dollars. For the women, the tournament, which has been held since 2010, belongs to the World Series Platinum category with a total prize money of 115,000 US dollars. The editions in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2006 , 2007 and 2009 also functioned as the Carol Weymuller Open .
With four titles, Peter Nicol is the record winner. In the women's category, Cassie Jackman won the tournament four times.
