Andorf is a market town in Upper Austria in the Schärding district in the Innviertel with 5211 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Schärding .

geography

Andorf lies at an altitude of 346 m in the Innviertel . The extension is 7.7 km from north to south and 7.6 km from west to east. The total area is 37.6 km². 12.8% of the area is forested, 75% of the area is used for agriculture.

The village of An der Fernstraße is located directly on Innviertler Straße (B 137) and essentially consists of an operating area.

history

Andorf was first mentioned in 1122 as "Ammandorf". At the end of the 16th century, the first school was founded in Andorf in accordance with the school regulations issued by Duke Albrecht V in 1569 .

The place, which has belonged to the Duchy of Bavaria since it was founded, came to Austria in 1779 after the Treaty of Teschen and the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ). When the area was occupied by the Habsburgs during the War of the Spanish Succession , Andorf belonged to Prince Trautson's County Ried, which only existed from 1711 to 1714 . During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again, since 1814 it has finally belonged to Austria ob der Enns .

Schörgern Castle is located in the village of Großschörgern in the Andorf community . The former Haitzing Castle was in the current district of Heitzing in the Andorf community. The Burgstall Andorf is located in the Burgstallholz of Andorf.

After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

Andorf was raised to the market on March 12, 1951. Until the end of 2002, the community belonged to the Raab judicial district , after its dissolution it was assigned to the Schärding judicial district.

The population increase from 1991 to 2001 is based on a positive birth balance (+39) and a positive migration balance (+337). From 2001 to 2011 the birth balance was negative, but could be offset by the positive migration balance.

Andorf is on the B 137 Innviertler Straße and the Passauer Bahn . This means that the community is well connected to the greater Linz area and eastern Austria as well as to Germany. The market town of Andorf also has a very good infrastructure and offers many advantages as an operating location. The business location Andorf with its approx. 1,300 jobs has developed very respectably in recent years and is now characterized by growth and dynamism. Companies invest and expand; here they encounter excellently qualified employees. In 2014 Andorf was included in the national EU regional development area.

Football club FC Andorf

FC Andorf was founded in 1946 and joined the Upper Austrian Football Association in July of the same year . The greatest success in the club's history is the victory in the ÖFB Cup against the first division club Grazer AK on August 10, 1987 (after a 1-1 draw after extra time, the penalty shoot-out was won 4-2). In the 2012/13 season, the promotion in the relegation against the Union Katsdorf could be fixed, the reserve team won the championship title and the U17 was able to win the title in the league. In the 2013/14 season, FC will play again in the Landesliga West, the fifth-highest division in Austria. A well-known player is Mario Illibauer , who in 2006, after a year in Andorf, moved to SV Ried for 3 seasons and returned to Andorf in 2010 after half a season at FC Pasching . Anel Hadžić also comes from the offspring of FC Andorf.
