Glasow is a small community in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in southeast Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The community belongs to the office Löcknitz-Penkun with seat in the community Löcknitz .

geography

The community Glasow lies between Löcknitz and Penkun in a hilly landscape. About three kilometers west of Glasow runs the Randow River in the Randowbruch, which marks the border with the State of Brandenburg ; Ten kilometers to the east is the border with the Republic of Poland .

Glasow is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ramin in the north, Grambow in the northeast, Krackow in the southeast and south and Brüssow in the west.

history

In 1497 Glasow was mentioned for the first time as a village belonging to Hohenholz. The estate was sold in 1939 to the Pomeranian Landgesellschaft in Stettin . Streithof, a former manor , was built as an outbuilding for the village of Hohenholz .

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE GLASOW * LANDKREIS VORPOMMERN-GREIFSWALD".
