Vehicle classes
The vehicles that take part in the endurance championship are divided into four divisions. These are in turn divided into 33 groups. In each individual group, the championship races are contested for class victory.
The vehicles closest to series production and least modified are the so-called VLN series vehicles.
The VLN Specials division is open to vehicles in group A or national group DA. Furthermore, vehicles of the E1-XP group compete in this division, most of which are silhouette touring cars from the DTM or the V8-Star . In the Specials class SP9 vehicles of the FIA group GT3 and in the SP10 vehicles of the GT4 have been allowed since the 2009 season . The cars of group E1-XP and natural gas-powered racing vehicles are only allowed to start on special request.
Historic vehicles built before 1996 ride in the group H .
In addition to the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup , cup cars from the Renault Clio Cup , Seat Leon Cup and Honda Civic Cup are also allowed.
While the participants in each individual group race for class victory, the teams with the fastest vehicles also make the overall victory among themselves. The biggest contenders for victory are the vehicles in the Specials classes SP7 and SP9. This is usually followed by vehicles from groups E1-XP, SP8, SP6 and Cup-Porsches from group Cup3.

56th ADAC Westfalenfahrt
The pole position at the season opener was secured by Marc Basseng , Mattias Ekström and Toto Wolff in the Land -Porsche with a time of 8: 20.956. The Zakspeed Viper, which was driven by Sascha Bert and Marc Anton Bronzel , followed in second place, 1.976 seconds behind . The first eight teams were within ten seconds.
At the start, the Zakspeed Viper took the lead, which it was able to keep until its first pit stop. The Land-Porsche retired on the fifth lap after a collision while lapping. Marcel Tiemann and Timo Bernhard then took the lead in the Manthey Porsche. After twelve laps, the Zakspeed Viper also had to give up the race. In the further course of the race, Christian Mamerow and Lance David Arnold's Mamerow Porsche drove from 13th to second despite two punctures and unplanned pit stops.
The opening race was finally won by the Manthey-Porsche after 4: 01: 01.014 hours. The Mamerow Porsche reached the finish line just 1: 03.348 minutes later. The podium was completed by Frank Stippler , Norbert Fischer and Marco Seefried on MSpeed Porsche squad run.
Former professional cyclist Jan Ullrich made his motorsport debut in a BMW 335d at this race .
34th DMV 4-hour race
In the second round of the endurance championship in 2009, Lance David Arnold and Christian Mamerow started from pole position in the Mamerow Porsche. Marcel Tiemann and Romain Dumas in the Manthey-Porsche had to start the race at the end of the first group due to problems in qualifying.
The Mamerow-Porsche led the field on the wet track for the entire race. When the track dried up at the end, Arnold decided not to make a pit stop, even though the rain tires were wearing off. Marcel Tiemann, on the other hand, in the Manthey-Porsche, which had been second up to that point, changed the tires and therefore stayed longer in the pits, which meant that he lost his second place to the Phoenix -Audi of Marc Basseng, Frank Stippler and Christian Abt .
In the end, the lead was enough for Arnold and the Mamerow team celebrated their first win of the season. The Phoenix team on its new Audi R8 LMS and the Manthey team followed in just 39 seconds, taking the other podium places.
Jan Ullrich achieved his first class win in the second race.

51st ADAC ACAS H&R Cup
In the third run of the series, the vehicles placed two to five slipped in the fourth lap on a liquid track in the “Adenauer Forst” section. While this meant the retirement for the Mamerow Porsche and the Alzen Porsche, the two Audi R8s driven by Timo Scheider , Matthias Ekström and Marco Werner as well as Hans-Joachim Stuck , Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro were able to restart the race after a pit stop.
Until shortly before the end of the race, the leading Abt- Audi, the Manthey-Porsche and the Phoenix-Audi were close together. Marc Lieb in Manthey-Porsche and Christian Abt in Abt-Audi turned into the home straight side by side. Since Christian Abt was not sure whether he would cross the finish line before the 4-hour mark or afterwards, he turned into the pits to refuel for safety reasons, as his tank would not have been enough for another lap. So Marcel Tiemann and Marc Lieb from the Manthey team were given the race victory. Just under a second behind followed the Phoenix-Audi of Mark Basseng, Marcel Fässler, Mike Rockenfeller and Frank Stippler. Christian Abt, Jean Francois Hemroulle , Pierre Kaffer and Lucas Luhr's Abt-Audi crossed the finish line in third place.
The race was seen by 35,000 spectators. A touring car revival took place as part of the supporting program, with over 30 former DTM cars.
