Chalmoux is about 40 kilometers east of Moulins in the Bourbonnais . Neighboring municipalities of Chalmoux are Mont in the north, Grury in the northeast, Neuvy-Grandchamp in the east, Perrigny-sur-Loire in the south, Gilly-sur-Loire in the southwest and Bourbon-Lancy in the west.
