The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Charolles and the canton Digoin (until 2015 Bourbon-Lancy ). The inhabitants are called Patriniacois .

Perrigny-sur-Loire is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chalmoux in the north, Neuvy-Grandchamp in the northeast, Les Guerreaux in the east, Saint-Agnan in the east and southeast, Colulanges in the south, Pierrefitte-sur-Loire in the south and southwest and Gilly-sur -Loire to the west.
