The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Charolles and the canton Digoin (until 2015 Bourbon-Lancy ). The inhabitants are called Montais .

Mont is about 46 kilometers east-northeast of Moulins . Mont is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Maltat in the north, Grury in the east and northeast, Chalmoux in the south and east and Bourbon-Lancy in the west.
