Chassigny-sous-Dun is located about 50 kilometers west-southwest of Mâcon in the rolling hills of Brionnais and Charolais . Neighboring municipalities of Chassigny-sous-Dun are La Chapelle-sous-Dun in the north, Varennes-sous-Dun in the north-east, Mussy-sous-Dun in the east, Chauffailles in the south and south-east, Tancon in the south and south-west, Saint-Maurice-lès -Châteauneuf in the west and Saint-Laurent-en-Brionnais in the northwest. The municipality is crossed in the south by the Mussy river.
