Vauban is a French municipality with 223 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Saône-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the Arrondissement Charolles and the community association La Clayette Chauffailles en Brionnais, founded in 2016 . The inhabitants are called Vaubanais .

Vauban is located about 56 kilometers west of Mâcon in the hills of Brionnais and Charolais . Neighboring municipalities of Vauban are Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais in the north and west, Vareilles in the north-east, Saint-Laurent-en-Brionnais in the east, Saint-Maurice-lès-Châteauneuf in the south-east and Ligny-en-Brionnais in the south and south-west.
