Sarry is a French municipality with 104 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
location
Sarry is located on the Belaine stream , which flows into the Arconce , at an altitude of about 310 meters above sea level. d. M. in the old cultural landscape of the Brionnais . The place is located about 27 kilometers (driving distance) south of Paray-le-Monial and about 35 kilometers north of Roanne . The places worth seeing Anzy-le-Duc , Semur-en-Brionnais , Iguerande , Marcigny , Saint-Julien-de-Jonzy and Charlieu are all within a radius of about 15 kilometers.

In the 19th century the place had over 500 inhabitants at times. The phylloxera crisis and the mechanization of agriculture have resulted in a significant population decline since then.
economy
The hilly surroundings of Sarry have always been characterized by agriculture, with viticulture being practiced well into the 19th century. In the meantime, cattle breeding ( Charolais cattle) plays a major role. The place itself functioned as a handicraft, trade and service center for several hamlets and individual farms in the area until the early 20th century.
Attractions
- The parish church is a single-nave classicist building from the 18th century with a tower on the north side.
- From the estate of the Château du Magny , only the tall round pigeon house ( colombier ) from the 17th century has been recognized as a monument historique since 1995 . The estate is privately owned.
