China on the tongue
China on the tongue or Shejian shang de Zhongguo ( Chinese 舌尖 上 的 中国 , Pinyin Shéjiān shàng de Zhōngguó , English A Bite of China / Tasting China - "China on the tongue" and others) is a seven-part TV documentary about Chinese produced by CCTV Delicacy, which premiered on May 14-22, 2012 on the CCTV-1 channel . It is an introduction to the households and gastronomy of the various regional cuisines of the so-called Chinese cuisine and that of other peoples of China , including everyday food, the very different eating habits and taste aesthetics. The film has received a lot of attention nationwide. The delicacies presented in the film are also discussed in internet forums.
The seven episodes of the documentary, each almost fifty minutes long, were shot in a total of thirteen months in seventy different locations in China. The director of the documentary was Chen Xiaoqing. The film is considered the highest rated documentary in China since the 1990s. In June 2012, program director Liu Wen announced a continuation of the documentation for the end of the year.
