The Copa MX 1943/44 was the second edition of the football - cup competition since the introduction of professional football in Mexico . Eligible to participate were the ten teams that were represented in the top division in the 1943/44 season , as well as the clubs Puebla FC and León FC , which had already been included in the top division for the coming 1944/45 season , during the coming season as well first class CD Oro did not take part. The cup winner was the Real Club España team for the fifth time (but for the first time under professional conditions) .
The semi-finals were held on July 2 and July 9, 1944 in Parque Asturias in Mexico City and in both cases the capital city clubs were able to use their home advantage. Atlante made it unnecessarily exciting again after a quick 3-0 lead (after 26 minutes) after they had to accept the goals against 3: 2 and 3: 3 in the last eight minutes. So the Potros had to go into extra time , in which Martí Ventolrà saved them with his winning goal to make it 4: 3 in the 107th minute.
The final was held on July 16, 1944 - as were the semi-final pairings - in Parque Asturias in Mexico City. There Real Club España prevailed against CF Atlante 6-2 after losing the preliminary round match against the same opponent with 2-3.
