Derscheid is located on the slopes of the Bergisches Land in the southernmost tip of the municipality. Neighboring towns are Löbach in the north and Eichhof with Bröleck in the south. Derscheid can be reached via the national roads 224 and 350 .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1499.

In 1901 the hamlet had 50 inhabitants. The heads of the household were Gerhard, Joh. And widow Peter Graef, Heinrich Wilhelm and Wilhelm Schmitz, Gerhard Schneider, Heinrich Siebert and Heinrich Steimel. All were farmers by profession .
