Edson Williams

Edson Williams (born October 30, 1966 in Anchorage , Alaska , USA ) is a VFX Supervisor who was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects in 2014 with Lone Ranger .

Life

He grew up in Green Bay , Wisconsin , attended Ashwaubenon High School and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin at Madison . This was followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Brooks Institute of Photography, where he later also worked as a professor of matte painting and computer animation . In 1994, Williams founded the visual effects company Virtual Dynamics , with which he worked on films such as True Lies and Operation: Broken Arrow .

In 1998 his company merged into the 1997 newly founded visual effects company Pixel Envy , in which he worked with partners Greg Strause, Colin Strause and Mat Beck. In 2003, he founded Lola visual effects , a sister company of the visual effects company Hydraulix, with Greg Strause, Colin Strause and Thomas Nittmann . For the newly founded company, he was involved in films such as Mission: Impossible III , Iron Man and Star Trek in the following years .

In 2014 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects for the film Lone Ranger along with Gary Brozenich , Tim Alexander and John Frazier .
