Every Little Thing ( English analogously: Every little thing ) is a song by British band The Beatles , in 1964 on their fourth studio album Beatles for Sale was published. It was composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and published under the author's name Lennon / McCartney .

Every Little Thing was written on August 30, 1964 during a US tour in Atlantic City and is based largely on the musical ideas of Paul McCartney. It's a love song for his girlfriend at the time, Jane Asher . McCartney wanted to write another single A-side with Every Little Thing , but the song was only used as a single B-side in Japan .

Every Little Thing was not included in the group's live repertoire in 1964.

Every Little Thing was recorded on September 29th and 30th, 1964 at London's Abbey Road Studios (Studio 2) with producer George Martin . Norman Smith was the sound engineer for the recordings. The band recorded a total of nine takes , five on September 29 and four on September 30, 1964, with the 9th take also being used for the final version. A piano and timpani were only used on the ninth take .

In the United States, Every Little Thing was released on June 14, 1965 on the ninth album Beatles VI there .
