geography

Geographical location

The settlement core of Hochdorf is located in an east-south-east direction about 13 km as the crow flies from the district town of Esslingen am Neckar and about 23 km from Stuttgart . Located in the foothills of the central Swabian Alb , the place is less than two kilometers much closer to the Fils Valley in the north and northwest and the Schurwald natural area beyond it than to the Albtrauf in the southeast. The municipal area is largely drained by the Talbach flowing through the main town towards Fils, to which the Dammbach flows from the right on the southern edge of the village and the Tobelbach from the left in the village . Three even smaller streams flow directly into the Fils.

Neighboring communities

Adjacent municipalities are in turn the municipality of Reichenbach an der Fils in the north, the city of Ebersbach an der Fils in the east, the municipality of Notzingen in the south, the city of Wernau in the west and the city of Plochingen in the northwest. All except Ebersbach an der Fils, which belongs to the district of Göppingen , are in the district of Esslingen .

Community structure

The village of Hochdorf and the Ziegelhof house as well as the abandoned village of Hinterburg belong to Hochdorf .

history

Hochdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1189, but was probably built in the 5th century AD. Until 1454 the place was owned by various monasteries, then it belonged to Württemberg , which in 1952 became part of the newly founded south-western state.

Within Württemberg, Hochdorf initially belonged to the Oberamt Kirchheim and was assigned to the Oberamt Göppingen in 1485 . In 1842 it was relocated to Kirchheim, where the place remained until the districts were reorganized in 1938. Since then, Hochdorf has been part of the Esslingen district .
