Kesklinn (Tallinn)

Kesklinn is the Estonian name of the Tallinn City Center district, one of the eight districts of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It was launched on March 4, 1993.

The district Tallinn city covers mainly the center of Tallinn to the Old Town ( Vanalinn ) and the Cathedral Hill ( Toompea ) and the urban areas east of it.

On December 31, 2011, 46,494 residents lived in the district. Of these, 73.8% were Estonian as their mother tongue and 22.6% were Russian as their mother tongue. The area is 30.6 km². Of this, 9.75 km² belong to Lake Ülemiste and 2.9 km² belong to the island of Aegna .

The district Tallinn-city is divided into 21 areas (Estonian asumid ) Aegna , Juhkentali , Kadriorg , Kassisaba , Keldrimäe , Kitseküla , Kompassi , Luite , Maakri , Mõigu , Raua , Sadama , Sibulaküla , Südalinn , Tatari , Torupilli , Tõnismäe , Ülemistejärve , Uus Maailm , Vanalinn and Veerenni .
