Lanterswil is a former municipality and a town in the municipality of Bussnang in the Weinfelden district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
The local community Lanterswil belonged to the Munizipalgemeinde Bussnang. It merged on January 1, 1996 together with seven other local parishes to form the political municipality of Bussnang.
geography
The local community of Lanterswil consisted of the three settlements Lanterswil, including Neuhof and Kirchbühl, as well as Niederhof and Stehrenberg, located close together on the gentle northern slope of the Braunauer Berg.
history
Lanterswil was first mentioned in a document in 1272 as Landretiswiller . The whole area belonged to the so-called high courts until 1798 and was therefore subject to the federal governor of Thurgau for high and low jurisdiction. Lieutenants of Lanterswil were the lords of Bussnang . Lanterswil always shared the fate of Bussnang in the church.
In Lanterswil, grain cultivation and viticulture were carried out in three tents . The transition to cattle and dairy farming took place in the 19th century, and the Lanterswil-Toos cheese dairy was established in 1879. The rural character of the village has been preserved to this day.
coat of arms
Blazon : Spared three times by red and yellow.
The coat of arms is a recent creation with the rafter shield of the Lords of Bussnang in the colors of the Landvogtei Thurgau.
