history
Before 1798 the village belonged to the Schönenberg office of the Bishop of Constance and was administered by the Obervogtei Bischofszell. Halden was always part of the parish of Bischofszell. After the old order was dissolved in 1798, many homeless people lived in Halden. With the simpler option of naturalization in 1806 and 1811, more homeless people settled in Halden. From 1839 to 1907 Halden was under direct state administration because it was viewed as "economically and morally depraved".
In the 19th century agriculture was practiced, a weaving mill and small tradesmen such as basket weavers, tinkers and broom makers settled there. At the end of the 19th century the transition to cattle and dairy farming took place, and more fruit was grown. From the early 20th century, the population found work in the industries of Schönenberg and Bischofszell. With the construction of several single-family houses, Halden developed into a rural housing estate after 1980.
