Zezikon is a village in the municipality of Affeltrangen in the Weinfelden district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . Zezikon formed until 1994 a municipality of Munizipalgemeinde Affeltrangen. On January 1, 1995 , the local community merged to become the political municipality of Affeltrangen.
geography
The local community comprised the farming village of Zezikon in the upper Lauchetal with various hamlets , including Battlehausen, Kaltenbrunnen, Maltbach and Wildern. The Schwabenweg leads across the former municipal area .
history
Zezikon was mentioned 811-838 / 39 as Zezinchovun and 827 as Zezinchova . In the 9th century Zezikon belonged to the basic rule of the monastery of St. Gall . Later it came to the Toggenburgers and their servants in Zezikon, from 1228 to approx. 1500 gradually to the Johanniterkomturei Tobel . Zezikon remained under their jurisdiction until 1798. An opening first recorded in 1488 regulated everyday life in the village.
Until the Reformation in 1529/30, Zezikon belonged to the Affeltrangen church, after which the Catholic part of the population after Tobel was part of the church. In 1662 Adam Lauchenauer donated the St. Jakobskapelle Kaltenbrunnen.
Until around 1860, grain cultivation in Zelgen was carried out separately by Weilern , then increasingly cattle and dairy farming. In 1900 the village cheese dairy was built. Viticulture continued until around 1900 and was replaced by fruit growing. Since time immemorial, peat has been extracted from the crow's reed and leek. From 1918 to 1931 the leeks were corrected and goods were amalgamated in the southern part of the municipality, from 1951 to 1954 in the northern part. Since 1980 there has been a new consolidation of goods. Handicraft was always just a sideline. Around 1900 several home stickers and a small shipping company are recorded. There has been a lot of residential construction activity since around 1970.
