Donzhausen is a former municipality and a village in the municipality of Sulgen in the Weinfelden district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . The clustered settlement is northeast of Sulgen.
The local community Donzhausen belonged from 1803 to 1816 to the municipality of Birwinken , from 1816 to 1994 to the municipality of Bürglen and 1995 to the municipality of Sulgen. On January 1, 1996 , the local community of Donzhausen merged as part of the Thurgau community reform to form the political community of Sulgen.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1282 as Tunzishusen . From 1282 and 1442 until after 1800, the landlord was the canons of St. Pelagius in Bischofszell. Court belonged Donzhausen from the late Middle Ages until 1798 to rule Berg . Ecclesiastically, the village shared the fate of the Sulgen parish .
In the 19th century arable and fruit growing, grass farming and the home industry were all worthwhile. Until 1900, the mechanical embroidery Krapf was an important employer. A cheese cooperative was founded in 1910. After the decline of embroidery, the residents of Donzhausen found work mainly in the industrialized neighboring villages. Numerous new residential buildings have been built since 1980.

Of the total of 314 inhabitants in Donzhausen in 2018, 19 or 6.1% were foreign nationals. 148 (47.1%) were Protestant Reformed and 98 (31.2%) were Roman Catholic.
