Hessenreuti , in Swiss German Hesserüti , is a settlement in the municipality of Sulgen in the Weinfelden district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
Hessenreuti formed from 1803 to 1816 a local community of the municipality of Birwinken and from 1816 to 1994 a local community of the municipality of Bürglen . In 1995 it was affiliated with the municipality of Sulgen. On January 1, 1996 , the local community Hessenreuti merged as part of the Thurgau community reform to form the political community Sulgen.
history
In 1282 the settlement was first mentioned as (Hesso de) Ruti . The lords of Roggwil appear as the first known owners of the Bailiwick of Hessenreuti in the 15th century . After a few changes of ownership, the Lower Court of Hessenreuti with Ennetaach , Gutbertshausen, part of Götighofen and Ruppertsmoos was part of the Bürglen rule from 1664 to 1798 . Ecclesiastically Hessenreuti always belonged to the parish Sulgen.
In the second half of the 19th century, agriculture and viticulture were increasingly replaced by cattle breeding, dairy farming and fruit growing. In addition to peat extraction in the Weinmoos, a brick and lime kiln was operated. In the 19th century, home weaving and around 1900 embroidery offered an additional income. Despite the construction of several single-family houses, Hessenreuti has remained a farming village to this day.
