Illhart is a former municipality and a village in the municipality of Wigoltingen in the Weinfelden district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .

The municipalities of Illhart and Lamperswil were assigned to the municipal municipality of Wigoltingen in 1805 and merged into the local municipality of Illhart in 1812. On January 1, 1995 , the Illhart community merged as part of the Thurgau community reform to form the political community of Wigoltingen.

geography

Illhart with the village of Lamperswil is located on the southern slope of the Seerücken north of the A7 motorway .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1264 as Ilnehart . From the Middle Ages to 1798, Illhart and Lamperswil formed the Illhart Lower Court, which was under the rule of Altenklingen . The predominantly Reformed village always belonged to the parish Wigoltingen and ecclesiastically shared its fate.

In the 19th century, agriculture was increasingly replaced by dairy farming, cattle breeding and fruit growing. While weaving was widespread in the 19th century , embroidery brought the small farmers an important additional income around 1900 . The once widespread viticulture was almost completely abandoned in the 20th century. In recent times, the former farming village has developed into a rural residential community through the construction of numerous single-family houses.
