Hosenruck is a former municipality and a village in the municipality of Wuppenau in the Weinfelden district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .

The Hosenruck located on the southern slope of the Nollens formed a local community of the municipal community of Wuppenau until 1970 . On January 1, 1971 , the local communities of Hosenruck, Heiligkreuz and Wuppenau merged to form the unitary community of Wuppenau.

history

Parish before the merger in 1971

From the Middle Ages until 1798, Hosenruck was under the lower court of Istighofen in the Bürglen lordship . Hosenruck belongs to the parish of Schönholzerswilen and was mostly reformed until 1900. The Catholic residents attended mass in Wuppenau and have been part of the Catholic parish of Welfensberg since 1871 .

In the 19th century, besides agriculture, there was mainly calico and cotton weaving. With the transition to cattle and dairy farming towards the end of the 19th century, embroidery, knitting and dyeing came to the village. Around 1900 a health spa was run on the Nollen . Although there is a private retirement home in Hosenruck, which is away from the main traffic routes, and some single-family houses were built after 1960, the village has retained its rural character.
