Rothenhausen is a former local parish and place of the municipality Bussnang in the district of Weinfelden in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
The local community Rothenhausen belonged from 1803 to 1995 to the Munizipalgemeinde Bussnang. On January 1, 1996 , the Rothenhausen community merged as part of the Thurgau community reform to form the political community of Bussnang.

The local community of Rothenhausen comprised the village of Rothenhausen on the Weinfelden - Wil (SG) road south of the Thur , the neighboring hamlet of Puppikon and Thurrain on the Thur crossing, which has existed since Roman times .
history
Rotenhuson was first mentioned in a document in 857. In the early Middle Ages , the St. Gallen monastery owned goods and rights here. The village and hamlet belonged to the Barons von Bussnang until 1435 , after which Rothenhausen was subordinate to the Lower Court of Bussnang-Rothenhausen and shared the fate of the Weinfelden rule until 1798 .
Puppikon was first mentioned in a document in 838. Until 1798, Puppikon belonged partly to the Bürglen lordship with the lower court Mettlen , partly to Weinfelden and partly to the free court Thurlinden . 1474 the village received an opening .
Rothenhausen was always parish after Bussnang.
In the early modern period mainly grain was grown in the three-legged system and some viticulture, from the middle of the 19th century increasingly cattle, dairy and fruit growing were practiced. In 1865 a cheese dairy was set up. 1921 took place the amelioration of the Ried and from 1941 to 1945, a freight consolidation. In 1966 a zoning plan and building regulations were drawn up. Smaller knitwear factories opened in the 20th century.

Of the total of 517 inhabitants in Rothenhausen in 2018, 73 or 14.1% were foreign nationals. 229 (44.3%) were Protestant Reformed and 102 (19.7%) Roman Catholic.
