The women's 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1999 World Athletics Championships took place on August 28 and 29, 1999 in the Olympic Stadium in the Spanish city of Seville .
The Bahamas became world champion with the line-up Savatheda Fynes , Chandra Sturrup , Pauline Davis-Thompson and Debbie Ferguson (final) as well as Eldece Clarke-Lewis, who was also used in the preliminary stages .
Second place went to France with Patricia Girard (final), Muriel Hurtis , Katia Benth and Christine Arron as well as Fabé Dia, who was also used in the preliminary run .
Bronze went to Jamaica ( Aleen Bailey , Merlene Frazer ,Beverly McDonald , Peta-Gaye Dowdie ).
The runners who were only used in the preliminary run also received the corresponding precious metal. Records and top performances, on the other hand, were only available to the athletes actually running.
