The women's 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1999 World Athletics Championships was held on August 28 and 29, 1999 in the Olympic Stadium in the Spanish city of Seville .
World champion Russia in the cast Tatjana Tschebykina , Svetlana Goncharenko , Olga Kotlyarova (Finale) and Natalya Nazarova (finals) as well as also used in the flow Natalya Sharova and Yekaterina Bachwalowa .
Second place went to the United States with Suziann Reid , Maicel Malone-Wallace , Michelle Collins and Jearl Miles Clark (final) as well as Andrea Anderson, who was also used in the preliminary run .
Bronze went to Germany with Anke Feller , Uta Rohländer , Anja Rücker and Grit Breuer (final) as well as Anja Knippel, who was also used in the preliminary run .
The runners who were only used in the preliminary run also received the corresponding precious metal. Records and top performances, on the other hand, were only available to the athletes actually running.

There was a doping case in this competition.
The season of Liberia , which was eliminated in the run-up - initially with a national record - was disqualified for doping abuse of its last runner Hannah Cooper .

The preliminary round was carried out in three runs. The first two seasons per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the two fastest teams - highlighted in light green - qualified for the final.
