Honorary citizen of Zeitz
The honorary citizenship is the highest honor the city of Zeitz. It expires with death. The city has so far awarded it to the following people:
- Otto Baensch (1825–1898), hydraulic engineer, was in charge of the Main canalization from Frankfurt to Mainz and the construction of the Kiel Canal from 1887 to completion in 1895
- Theodor Arnold (1852–1931), Mayor and Lord Mayor of Zeitz from 1888 to 1918
- Richard Dietrich (1885–1963), former, young trade unionist and social democrat from Leipzig, from 1945 city councilor for popular education, one of the main initiators of the erection of the OdF memorial on Friedensplatz (awarded in 1950)
