Little Child ( English Little Child ) is a song by the British band The Beatles from 1963. It appeared on their second studio album With the Beatles . It was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon under their joint copyright Lennon / McCartney .
Emergence
Little Child was written specifically for Ringo Starr's contribution to the Beatles' second album. McCartney, looking back, described the song as a working song to fill up the album. He also admitted that he a part of the melody to the song Whistle My Love by Elton Hayes had borrowed, which is also in the Walt Disney -Spielfilm The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men was used.
Ultimately, Lennon and McCartney sang instead of Ringo Starr. His vocal contribution to With The Beatles was I Wanna Be Your Man .

The song was recorded in 1963 at Abbey Road Studios in London . The song was produced by George Martin , sound engineer was Norman Smith . Overall, the band had a hard time recording the song and the recordings dragged on for an unusually long time. They recorded two takes on September 11, 1963, followed by 16 more takes the following day. These recordings were also discarded, and on October 3, 1963, three additional takes were recorded. On October 3rd, Ringo Starr also recorded his singing for I Wanna Be Your Man .

Little Child appeared in Mono on November 22, 1963 on the Beatles' second album. The stereo version was released a week later. The song was not released on single . It was also never part of the Beatles' live repertoire.
