Long, Long, Long ( English Lang, Lang, Lang ) is a song by the British rock band The Beatles from 1968. It appeared on the double album The Beatles (also known as the White Album ). The title was composed by George Harrison .
background
On the surface, Long, Long, Long appears to be a love song , but the lyrics actually describe Harrison's joy in finding God . Musically, Harrison was inspired by Bob Dylan's song Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands , which the latter released on his album Blonde on Blonde in 1966 .
The song ends in an unusual way: during the recording, a wine bottle that happened to be placed on a Leslie loudspeaker cabinet began to vibrate. The vibration noises were recorded separately and accompanied by a drum roll and Harrison's high-frequency scream. The sound collage was used as the end of the song.
admission
The song was recorded in three days in 1968 at Abbey Road Studios in London . The producer was George Martin , assisted by Ken Scott . On October 7, 1968, the Beatles recorded 67 takes of the song. George Harrison sang and played guitar, Paul McCartney played the Hammond organ , Ringo Starr played the drums . John Lennon was not involved in the entire production. On October 8, 1968, Harrison and McCartney added vocals and bass to the recording. On October 9, 1968, the recordings with backing vocals and piano (played by Chris Thomas ) were completed.
publication
Long, Long, Long appeared on the White Album on November 22, 1968 . It is the last song on the third page and marks a calm pole between the loud song Helter Skelter and the political rock song Revolution . The song was never released as a single.
