Sustainable orientation of the lunatic festival

In addition to the main objective of the lunatic e. V., to organize a successful festival, since the festival year 2007 the topic of "events and sustainability" has been the focus of work. Together with environmental scientists from Leuphana University, a guideline was designed to make it possible to make the festival socially and environmentally compatible. Since the winter semester 2007, the Leuphana University of Lüneburg has had a special partner seminar of the lunatic e. V., which tries to further deepen the previous orientation. In addition, the lunatic festival has been presenting a new “sustainability topic” every year since 2010, which focuses on a certain problem in the field of sustainability. Every year a new team is formed in order to give as many students as possible practical experience in the field of event organization. A small number of experienced participants in the role of festival management ensure the transfer of knowledge. The 20 or so newcomers are divided into the areas of artistic management, press and public relations, technology and infrastructure as well as finances and take on individual tasks of festival planning on their own responsibility.
