Lyubov Vladimirovna Baranova-Kosyrewa (Russian Любовь Владимировна Баранова-Козырева ; born August 27, 1929 in Bugry , Leningrad Oblast ; † June 22, 2015 in Moscow ) was a Russian cross-country skier and Soviet Union who started in the 1950s for the Soviet Union .

Career

Kosyrewa won at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1954 in Falun over 10 km and with the relay the gold medal. In 1955 she was the first Russian woman to win the prestigious race on Holmenkollen . In the same year she took second place over 10 km at the Lahti Ski Games . At the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , she won the gold medal over 10 km and the silver medal with the relay. Two years later she won the silver medal over 10 km and the gold medal with the relay at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 . At the end of February 1959 she was third over 10 km at the Lahti Ski Games. At the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , she won silver medals over 10 km and with the relay. In February 1962 she won the silver medal over 5 km and the gold medal with the relay at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1962 in Zakopane . In addition, she was fourth there over 10 km. In the same year she took second place with the relay at the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun. In Soviet championships she won eight times with the relay (1950-1953, 1955-1958), five times over 10 km (1951-1953, 1956, 1958) and three times over 5 km (1953-1955).
