Musical theater
- January 29th : The world premiere of the opera Demophoon by Peter Joseph von Lindpaintner takes place in Munich.
- February 27 : The opera La Victime des arts ou La Fête de famille by Henri Montan Berton has its world premiere at the Opéra-Comique in Paris.
- May 30th : premiere of the opera Le Poète et le musicien ou Je cherche un sujet by the composer Nicolas Dalayrac, who died in 1809, in Paris, (Opéra-Comique).
- June 4 : At the Munich Residenz Theater is Carl Maria von Weber's Singspiel Abu Hassan premiered. The libretto is by Franz Carl Hiemer based on a story from the Arabian Nights .
- October 26 : The premiere of the opera buffa L'equivoco stravagante by Gioacchino Rossini takes place at the Teatro del Corso in Bologna. The audience is very positive about the two-act opera. However, the censorship banned the work after three performances.
- December 27th : World premiere of the romantic opera The ruins of Paluzzi by Andreas Romberg in Hamburg.
