  • Antonio Salieri is celebrating his 50th anniversary as a musician and has received numerous awards from the French National Institute and the Music Conservatory in Paris, among others. He becomes an honorary member of the Styrian Music Association and the Milan Conservatory as well as the recipient of the "Great Golden Civil Medal of Honor on a Chain".

3rd July : World premiere of the opera Gabriella di Vergy by Michele Carafa in Naples. The material was later used by Gaetano Donizetti for his opera of the same name , published in 1826 .
