The regional district of Naxos ( Greek Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Νάξου Periferiaki Enotita Naxou ) is one of 13 regional districts in the Greek region of South Aegean . It was formed on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 from four island communities of the former Cyclades prefecture and corresponds to the area of the Naxos province, which existed until 1997 as a subdivision of the Cyclades prefecture. In proportion to its 20,933 inhabitants, the area sends four members to the regional council, but has no further political significance as a regional authority. Today it is divided into the two communities of Amorgos and Naxos and Little Cyclades .
