The regional district of Piraeus ( Greek Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Πειραιώς Periferiaki Enotita Pireos ) is one of eight regional districts in the Greek region of Attica . It was formed on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 from the mainland on the Attica peninsula in the former Piraeus prefecture . In proportion to its 448,997 inhabitants, the area sends 12 members to the Attic regional council, but has no further political significance as a regional authority. It is divided into the five municipalities Keratsini-Drapetsona , Korydallos , Nikea-Agios Ioannis Rendis , Perama and Piraeus .
