The thirteenth season of the German crime series SOKO Leipzig celebrated its premiere on October 25, 2013 on ZDF and ORF2 . The final was broadcast on February 21, 2014 on ZDF and on March 7, 2014 on ORF2.
The episodes of the season were first broadcast on the Friday 9:15 pm slot. In Austria , the episodes were shown on ORF2 on Fridays at 9:20 p.m.
As in previous seasons, an episode in the length of a feature film (90 minutes instead of the usual 45 minutes of an episode) was produced with Der Zobel .

The historian Wolfgang Folkert is found dead on the steps of the Völkerschlachtdenkmal . Chief Detective Trautzschke seems moved when he and his colleagues arrive at the scene because his past seems to catch up with him. Meanwhile, the member of the state parliament, Dr. Giesselmann, who wanted to use the Völkerschlachtdenkmal for an election campaign event, and Thorsten Roth, an opponent of the MPs, were targeted by the investigators. But when the commissioners found out about a missing but very explosive manuscript, a trace of the perpetrator seems to have been found.

The wealthy Russian Danjanka Maschakowa is found murdered in her hotel suite. The suspicion falls on the concubines, Ruslana Sadur and Dasha Tolstaja, a Russian oligarch whose wife Danjanka Maschakowa was also. They find out that Chief Detective Dagmar Schnee had a relationship with the deceased and that Sandra Buschhaus is pregnant. The perpetrator appears to be the child's father, but the investigators do not see the child's identity.

A bloody murder takes place in Leipzig. A masked man shoots a driver and escapes with a bag full of jewelry. The team is feverishly trying to find the culprit, but Chief Detective Kowalski seems absent. He seems involved in the case, because he owed the Greek who is involved in the case and is now supposed to break the service regulations for him. But the investigator makes a fatal mistake and has to save the life of an innocent man. Meanwhile, Chief Detective Maybach uncovered the secret of his colleague and his own life was in danger.

The young professional musician Gesine Bentheim is shot in a Jewish cemetery. Her companion, the Holocaust survivor Jacob Silberstein, is injured and has to be taken to a hospital. When right-wing extremist slogans are found in the injured person's hotel room, the press pounces on the case and suspects a right-wing extremist background. Ultimately, Silberstein disappears from the hospital and the investigations, which are running at full speed, lead the investigators back into the National Socialist history of Germany, but the GDR history also seems to hide some secrets for solving the case. Ultimately, a valuable fur coat, a barguzin sable, puts the investigators on the right track.
